Boomer Yoga: Keeping your body
young, mind vibrant, and spirit soaring
Drawing from her book, Boomer Yoga, Beryl will
introduce a dynamic yoga practice that is especially designed for
boomers (ages 40-70) to accommodate our changing bodies and minds.
This is an opportunity to experience an energetic yet doable approach
to asana practice that will both rejuvenate and detoxify your system.
Those who are new to yoga as well as lifelong practitioners will find
this method a wonderful tool for staying healthy and fit. All
welcome-teachers and students.
Saturday 9am-12pm
Bandhas, Breath and Drishti
Learn to use the three techniques of bandhas, breath,
and drishti to catapult your own practice beyond asana
to the outer edges of your spiritual potential. These three aspects
of yoga practice are not just incidental additions to asana,
they are profound and powerful aids to the development of mindfulness,
and designed to bring the attention into focus in the here and now.
That alone is where we find lasting Joy and the true experience
of yoga. Then alone can we call our practice (abhaysa),
practice! Beryl’s teachings of this brilliant methodology bring
together like-minded souls on the journey from self centeredness and
simple survival to the enlightened yoga experience of connectedness
with all things. Mostly asana (vinyasa style) with some discussion.
Saturday 2-5pm
Yoga Meditation for Stress
Relief
Turn on the Relaxation Response and relieve anxiety and depression in
just 12 minutes a day. There is a mind body revolution under way in
the medical world. For a long time about the only people who knew
about the benefits of mind body practices like yoga and meditation
were those who were studying metaphysics or following some kind of a
spiritual path. But now scientists and physicians are investigating
meditation to see how it can benefit our physical and mental health.
New studies and data are showing and confirming what the yogis have
always known!!! That meditation can help relieve stress, help people
with depression and anxiety disorders, and improve the quality of life
for sufferers of chronic disease, like MS or cancer, or diabetes, and
other physical ailments. We now have scientific proof that the mind
can heal the body. And it can help to relieve stress in our lives and
bring greater peace of mind and a deeper sense of joy and happiness
starting today. Includes practice and discussion.
Sunday 10am -1pm
The Rewarding Practice of Asana
(for teachers & students)
Asana, or the practice of the yoga postures, is the physical portion
of classical yoga, the 8 limbed path, and is designed to heal and
therapeutically align your human body. It is not exercise or sport,
but movement with careful attention. In this workshop Beryl will
share with you over 40 years of teaching experience in assisting,
adjustments, alignment, alternative and modified postures, and many
aspects of the therapeutic value of a hands-on yoga tradition. The
class will help you to learn to move yourself or others safely into
yoga asana without injury – from an awkward, tight, and unfocused
beginning, to a practice that is fluid, graceful, and mindful.
Discussion, Q&A, and light asana practice.
